What if Osama Bin Laden declared that he would turn himself in if NFL players even scored on his Al Qaeda trained football players – and his challenge was not only ignored by the NFL but there was zero media coverage? For the past 8 years I've made an eerily similar challenge to pro crime advocates in law enforcement, police, media, or elective office to face me in a public forum with a guaranteed shutout against defenders of current drug policy. The media coverage is truly nonexistent.
Osama would be stupid to make such a challenge as the matter is NOT a matter of opinion: it can be settled on the field – probably in less than five minutes after any NFL score. Conversely, pro crime [by definition] advocates would be equally stupid accepting since any challenge of the dangerous drugs mythology would leave them with absolutely no evidence in their favor: a shutout as guaranteed. Police are terrified of facing any reformer – even those who would concede the dangerous drugs mythology: it's that lopsided.
The drug policy debate is also NOT a matter of opinion. It can be settled easily in a debate forum. Once the dangerous drugs mythology falls the only argument left is the lame “we need to send a message” - that lying to the public about drugs is OK. This argument will be hailed by pro crime advocates bonding socially over martinis or their 4th cup of coffee. How do they get away with it?
